Breed History
True or false-- Miniature Pinschers are scaled-down relatives of the Doberman Pinscher? False. Despite their similar appearances, the two breeds share no direct genetic link. Developed primarily in Germany from a small "Pinscher" dog, the breed traces its heritage for hundreds of years. Until the early 20th century, however, people living outside of Germany and Scandinavia remained unacquainted with them.
Given their docile and friendly dispositions, "Minpins" made a fortunate exodus across the globe. The compact body stands ten to twelve inches at the shoulder and wears a short, smooth coat. They make excellent watchdogs and pets.
