Products Pet Animals Pet Cats Long Haired Manx
Although the ancesstry of the Long Haired Manx breeds may never be known with certanity, Vikings may have brought the tailess cats to the isle of Man during the island's early colonization. More modern breeding began in Canada in the 1930's. The longhaired version is commonly known today as the longhaired Manx or Cymric, this title deriving from the traditional name for Wales.
Cymrics are known as tailless cats, but they actually exist in three types: Rumpies, Stumpies and Longies. Rumpies have no tail at all, Stumpies have very short tails and Longies sports tails only slightly shorter than a "tailed" cat. Nearly every color combination, except pointed colors, is accepted in competition.
