Birman Exporters
Inhabitant of underground temples, Birmans were once called the sacred cats of Burma(now Myanmar). A fascinating legend tells that enemy raiders attacked the head priest Mun-Ha as he prayed. A yellow-eyed cat named sinh leapt upon the dying holy-man this act of dedication turned the cats eyes blue and its feet white. Exported to France in the early 20th century as gifts from Burman priests, a consistent breed became established there. Nearly extinct after world war II, they eventually spread across Europe and North America. Most Birman are creamy white with seal or blue points, but many clubs also recognize red, lilac, choclate, tortie or lynx points.
